CLaCS

The core idea of CLaCS is not to use a single treatment method, but to combine several technologies that mutually enhance each other's effect. This combined approach makes it possible to treat different types of vessels, improve the cosmetic outcome, and minimize the number of procedures needed.

History of the Method

The technique was pioneered in the 2000s by Brazilian vascular surgeon Kasuo Miyake. His first work was carried out precisely on the Alma laser platform. He decided to combine the physical properties of the neodymium laser (Nd:YAG) with the chemical properties of sclerotherapy, adding cryogenic cooling for maximum comfort, anesthesia, and reduced side effects. The procedure is carried out with the help of augmented-reality devices and, when needed, ultrasound navigation.

How the Procedure Works

Under the classic protocol, the procedure takes 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the individual vessel changes in the patient's legs. The first stage is typically transcutaneous laser coagulation of the "feeding" vessel — using the Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser module of the Alma Harmony XL Pro — followed immediately by sclerotherapy in those areas with a minimally concentrated solution. At the same time, given the high laser impact on the vessel and skin, cooling with a cryo-cooler is applied simultaneously with the coagulation, which significantly reduces the risk of burns and overheating of surrounding tissue and greatly reduces pain and discomfort during the procedure.

Is One Procedure Enough?

This is one of the most common patient questions. There's no single answer, but classically the procedure requires 2–3 base sessions, with touch-ups performed afterward as needed.

The number of procedures and expected result are influenced by:

• The affected area
• The number of reticular veins
• The presence of telangiectasias
• Individual venous anatomy
• How quickly the tissue responds to treatment

Some patients see a pronounced result after just the first session, but many need a full course of treatment for the maximum cosmetic effect.
